Case - February 2025 - BPD Pulmonary Hypertension
Case by Gabriel Altit - February 2025
In this video review, I am presenting the spectrum of bronchopulmonary dysplasia-associated pulmonary hypertension (BPD-PH). The cases include one with severe pulmonary hypertension, one with moderate pulmonary hypertension, two with mild pulmonary hypertension (most common), and one with elevated pulmonary artery pressures secondary to flow and pressure transmission through a post-tricuspid shunt. About 10% of extreme premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia will develop some degree of PH. Screening by echocardiography at 36 weeks post-menstrual age has been recommended by the American Heart Association and the American Thoracic Society in extreme premature infants still on oxygen or respiratory support. You will find the video reviews of these cases below.
